The Nightmare of Fabrication is a beautifully drawn full-colour manga from Yoshitoshi ABe. The 18 page short story can be found in the Lain Omnipresence in Wired artbook. It's a bonus story which apparently isn't related with neither the anime nor the PS game. It shows characters who were included in the PS game but not in the TV series (like the psychiatrist), but also determinant characters from the anime who didn't appear in the videogame (like Deus).
Years after the country defeat and occupation period, Japan is still recovering. Although they are on the road back to mass industrialization and prosperity, strong handed economic and political policies have turned many areas into dilapidated slums. Anarchists and anti-government student protesters have taken up arms, stirring up violent social revolution riots. In order to combat this growing threat, the Japanese government has nationalized a division of the police, creating the Capital Police Organization (CAPO). The CAPO consists of hard-trained panzer troopers carrying heavy firearms and wearing special armor suits called Protect Gear, this specialized unit is feared by anti-government groups, criminals and civilians alike.
One day Taku and his sister Tamaki find themselves on a foreign planet called Slaffleaze. The planet is ruled by the more intelligent creatures, who are led by Zolba (in the name of the king). Zolba plots to invade the world they know as Capricorn (the Earth) to obtain more power. Taku and Tamaki have to stop him before Zolba opens the way to the Earth. In order to do so, they have to gain the trust of Mona, the last remaining member of the Yappi clan, who is the ancestral guardian of Slaffleaze.

The 00V features different variations of the Mobile Suit from the series, and provides the stories about them in every chapter ("volumes"). The earlier stories of the 00V were told from Robert Spacey's perspective based on his encounters with different mobile suits during the height of Celestial Being's armed operations. The perspective of the stories later shifts to different characters, providing their side of the story behind the development and the operation of some of the mobile suits given in 00V.
